Eternal witness drift of phantasms combo11/30/2023 ![]() ![]() With GW being a rather popular color, what better way to fight them than use a hoser for both? I hope to see more combo decks in contention in the future. Most builds so far have not made it into the money so I'm glad to see one here. It's a rather resilient deck because you can't get away by using just counter magic and the recovery speed of the deck is really fast. (Other than Tooth and Nail, Tendrils of Agony and Rude Awakening I don't see other win conditions. #3 Rude Awakening / Tendrils of Agony for the win? The deck spots Tooth and Nail into the Pestermite and Kiki-Jiki, Mirror breaker combo but it generally works by: I would think that Ruination here would be a better choice especially since most of the lands played in this deck are basic lands (to work with Early Harvest). The bulk of the deck is still UG but it sure is neat to see Blood Moon and Magus of the Moon in the sideboard. This take on the mana ramping deck branches into all 5 colors but mainly for sideboard cards. It's rather refreshing to see a combo deck in the top 8 and almost losing to it at the top 8 was a scary experience. However, I personally don't agree to some of the changes because of the mana base (that runs on basic lands) and the use of karoo lands which makes the deck very vulnerable to land disruption, being a rather slow deck and all. ![]() RGW Zoo did relatively well in this tournament again but it seems to have on and off results so it doesn't really have good odds if you want to make t8 with it.Īnother thing to note is the crosis control which has some tweaks from the original, to a more creature oriented one if you look at the decklist. Chriskool's creatureless UW control is neat because it is totally not affected by the popular Bribery. This tournament saw a more even mix of decks and the rare appearance of the Heartbeat combo that has always been around in the format since the days of the 60 card decks. Iastatecrazy - Crosis Control (slightly different but uses the same base) One Double O Tournament Center - 01/08/09 These results suggest that cards that attack non-basic lands such as Ruination or anathemancer are going to be killers. The 5c greedy deck has burn to clear non-basic hating creatures like the miner pair and Magus of the Moon so switching away from those can be useful. One of the reasons why it did well this tournament is the lack of control elements to mess up the plan of the reanimator deck. When put into a pit fight of power vs power, it is obvious that reanimator is probably the deck with the advantage because it cheats big creatures into play. One control and one mid-ranged deck spotted in the top 8 too.Ī new archetype in the top 8 is the reanimator deck with assorted creatures. 5c greedy deck has again made its presence felt in the top 8 by taking 2 slots.Īlso, red decks have done well in this particular tournament. Slowly, we see the shift away from the metagame of GW decks. One Double O Tournament Center - 26/07/09Īce of Drafts - Red Deck Wins (with a tinge of green for artifact hate in the sb) With Magic 2010, the next base set just round the corner, a review and a list of what to get would be needed. Welcome to One Double O, the place to read about relevant information regarding the 100 card Singleton format. ![]()
